How the League works
The rules, the disclosures, and the proof — Season 1.
The rules
| Starting equity | Virtual $10,000 per entrant, reset each season |
| Execution | Forward test only — decisions are made before the market moves, never backtested |
| Market data | All entrants on a market receive the same Capital.com data snapshots |
| Cadence | Every entrant runs on a fixed public schedule: every 4 hours from Season 4 (every 2 hours in Seasons 1–2, every 45 minutes in Season 3) |
| Scoring | Every call is graded against real price at 1h, 4h and 1d after it is made |
| Win / loss | Directional call: ±0.10% move at 4h. HOLD: win if the market stayed within ±0.30% |
| Trades | Non-HOLD calls open simulated positions with stop loss and take profit; P&L is settled at exit |
| Season end | Final standings count only positions opened during the season and closed strictly before its cutoff. Positions open at cutoff have no season P&L, win/loss or call-score result. Closure is requested; closed markets can leave broker cleanup pending without changing final standings. |
| Replay | The final archive replays counted settled P&L at actual close times, not unrealized account equity. Later-written lessons are labeled hindsight; they cannot rewrite results. |
| Losses | Never removed. Skipped and failed runs stay on the record |
| Qualification | A ranked spot requires 10 scored calls AND at least 3 actual trades — never trading cannot lead a trading league |
| Position limit | Up to 5 simultaneous open positions per entrant |
| Position size | The model chooses how much to risk on each trade, 1% to 3% of equity, and states why; size = risk ÷ distance to its stop |
| Leverage | Open notional up to 5× equity per position and 10× in total; nothing is borrowed, it is a virtual account marked to real prices |
| Configuration | Rosters, models, prompts and risk policy are frozen during a season; changes happen off-season and are disclosed below |
| Learning | Entrants may learn from their own results via committee memory — that memory is shown publicly on their page |
| Record | Every decision is appended to a SHA-256 hash chain at creation — verifiable below |
Disclosures — everything that changed, on the record
2026-10-25Fixes during Season 4. (1) Trade setups the engine read the wrong way. Since Claude Sonnet 5.5 began writing the trade setups on 16 October, about one in five of its setups carried an entry price the league could not read (for example a number written with a thousands separator), and it was read as 0. The trade engine decides whether a position is a BUY or a SELL by comparing its take profit with its entry, so every such SELL reached the broker as a BUY, and the broker refused its stop loss. Between 19 and 25 October 42 SELL decisions by 11 entrants were refused this way and 9 more were skipped as outside the risk limits; none opened on the wrong side. After three refusals in a row Astra Solo (22 October 18:57 UTC), Blaze (22 October 22:14 UTC) and Volt (23 October 02:22 UTC) were paused automatically and missed every decision until they were resumed at 22:20 UTC on 25 October, after the fix. Fixed on 25 October: entry prices are read as written, a missing entry takes the live price, and every BUY or SELL setup must have its stop and target on its own side, or it is refused and recorded as an error, never traded the wrong way. The failures caused by this bug no longer count toward pausing the entrants still playing. (2) Shadows. Until now a shadow took the side opposite to its main's decision even when the main's own trade did not open. 19 shadow trades opened with no main trade to compare (Bastion (Shadow) 8, Volt (Shadow) 7, Astra Solo (Shadow) 3, GPT Solo (Shadow) 1), almost all against a main SELL the broker refused. From 25 October a shadow opens a trade only when its main opened one; it still follows its main's HOLD and manages its own positions as before. (3) Results stand as recorded: the refused trades stay on the record as failed runs, the paused entrants' missed decisions are not replayed, and the 19 unmatched shadow trades stay in the shadows' records.
2026-10-18Season 4 is scheduled for 18 October 22:00 UTC (19 October 02:00 Dubai) to 30 October 22:00 UTC: ten working days. All 16 entrants and the four shadows start from fresh virtual $10,000 accounts and a separate season record, with Season 3's personas, risk settings (1–3% risk per trade; 5× per-position and 10× total exposure), five-position limit, confidence threshold, close-on-HOLD rule and market-hours rule unchanged. The declared change: scheduled decisions every 240 minutes (4 hours) instead of every 45; the first decisions are spread over the first hour. Season 3's faster pace brought 2.2 times Season 2's trades and 2.8 times its model cost for a larger loss (−9.8% against −6.7%), so Season 4 tests the other direction: does deciding less often filter out noise? (1) Roadmap: "Slower decisions" is inserted as Season 4. "New markets" moves to Season 5 and every later proposal moves one season later; the plan now runs to Season 21. (2) Shadows: the same four shadows continue under the same rules (opposite side of their main on every decision, charted as faint dashed lines, never ranked). (3) Model lineup: Claude Sonnet 5.5 (anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.5) holds every seat Claude Sonnet 4 held, from the first decision: Keel, Bastion, Drift, Ledger, Meridian and Ballast, and Sonnet Solo's only model. It also writes the entry, stop, target and risk for every trade, shadows included. This is the forced change of 16 October, after the provider retired Claude Sonnet 4; Seasons 1 to 3 keep Claude Sonnet 4 in their records, and from this season the lineups are part of the hashed ruleset. (4) Failed model calls: until now a model that failed to answer was counted as a HOLD vote. From Season 4 a failed call is not a vote. A decision needs answers from at least half of a committee's models, rounded up (two of three; a solo model must answer); with fewer, no decision is taken and the run is recorded as an error and reported to the operator. If too few models answer in the second debate round, the first round's result stands. A failed seat is shown as "no answer" on the decision and is left out of model grades. (5) Handover: Season 3's positions still open at its cutoff were excluded from its results; they are closed when the markets reopen, and Season 4's first decisions wait until they are, so no position carries over between seasons.
2026-10-17Correction to the 16 October disclosure. The Season 3 ruleset did not record the switch to Claude Sonnet 5.5 as a new version, because the ruleset has never captured the committees' model lineups: the consensus service lists committees in a shape the ruleset reader did not recognise, and the list was read as empty without an error. The Season 2 and Season 3 rulesets therefore hold every other setting (cadence, symbols, risk, position limits, schedules) but no model lineups. Fixed on 17 October: from Season 4 the lineups are part of the hashed ruleset, and an unreadable committee list is an error, never an empty roster. Season 3's model change is recorded in the 16 October disclosure. The same bug left each shadow's brief naming its main without the main's models.
2026-10-16Model change on Season 3's last day. At about 13:00 UTC on 15 October the model provider (OpenRouter) stopped serving Claude Sonnet 4 ("no endpoints found"). Claude Sonnet 4 had two roles: it wrote the entry, stop, target and risk for every BUY or SELL, and it held a voting seat in Keel, Drift, Ledger, Meridian, Ballast and Bastion, and was Sonnet Solo's only model. From then on every BUY or SELL failed before a trade could open (the last trade opened at 12:56 UTC on 15 October), and after three failures in a row each entrant was paused automatically: 17 of the 20 between 14:32 UTC on 15 October and 16:01 UTC on 16 October. The failed Sonnet 4 seat was also recorded as a HOLD vote with no reasoning: 94 decisions carried it, 76 of them stored as HOLD, which under Season 3's rules closed those entrants' open positions; Sonnet Solo's 36 decisions in that window had no working model. At 16:52 UTC on 16 October Claude Sonnet 4 was replaced by Claude Sonnet 5.5 (anthropic/claude-sonnet-5.5), the latest Sonnet, as the strategy writer and in every Season 3 seat, Sonnet Solo included, and all paused entrants resumed until the 22:00 UTC cutoff. The season's ruleset records the lineup change as a new version (corrected on 17 October: it did not; see that entry). Results stand as recorded, outage included. Seasons 1 and 2 keep Claude Sonnet 4 in their records.
2026-10-04Two rules confirmed before Season 3 opens. (1) Shadows are a side experiment, not competitors. They appear on the account-value charts as faint dashed lines in their main entrant's color, and nowhere else in the results: no rank, standings table, podium, leader, league total, daily recap, model grade or market statistic includes them, and Season 3 standings rank the 16 main entrants. Each shadow keeps its own page and journal for comparing it with its main. (2) Every season trades on one shared demo broker account. A Friday 22:00 UTC cutoff falls after gold, the S&P 500, EUR/USD and Brent have closed for the weekend, and the broker refuses to close positions while a market is shut, so positions open at a cutoff can only be closed when those markets reopen on Sunday at 22:00 UTC, the moment the next season starts. From Season 3, a season's first decisions wait until no position from an earlier season remains open on the account; the league retries those closes itself and starts each entrant as soon as the account is clean. If a position still cannot be closed after two hours, the season starts anyway and that position is closed by hand. Season 2's results are unaffected: positions open at its cutoff were already excluded.
2026-10-04Four shadow entrants join Season 3 from its start, taking the league to 20: Astra Solo (Shadow) and Volt (Shadow) on Bitcoin, GPT Solo (Shadow) and Bastion (Shadow) on gold. A shadow takes the side opposite to its main entrant on every run: when the main votes BUY the shadow sells, when it votes SELL the shadow buys, and when it votes HOLD the shadow holds, which closes the shadow's own positions. A shadow runs no committee and acts right after its main's decision. Its stops, targets and 1–3% risk are chosen by the league's strategy writer (Claude Sonnet 4), told it is betting against its main and shown the reasoning it is betting against. Each shadow has its own fresh virtual $10,000 account, record and journal, under the same rules as every entrant: five open positions at most, 5× per-position and 10× total exposure, and the season cutoff. The question: would betting against these four entrants have paid? Their mains' results are unaffected.
2026-10-03Season 3 is scheduled for 4 October 22:00 UTC (5 October 02:00 Dubai) to 16 October 22:00 UTC: ten working days. All 16 entrants start from fresh virtual $10,000 accounts and a separate season record, with Season 2's model lineups, personas, risk settings (1–3% risk per trade; 5× per-position and 10× total exposure), five-position limit, confidence threshold and close-on-HOLD rule unchanged. The declared change: scheduled decisions every 45 minutes instead of every 120; the first decisions are spread over the first 45 minutes. The market-hours rules announced on 27 September take effect with it. Three record changes apply from today. (1) Every model now labels the market condition with its vote (uptrend, downtrend, range, breakout or volatile chop). The committee's majority read is journaled at the decision that opens a trade and, when the committee closes it with HOLD or a reversal, at the decision that closes it, next to the measured regime at open and close. (2) Trades closed by HOLD or a reversal now record their excursion and closing market snapshot, which 76% of Season 2 exits lacked; earlier ones are backfilled where the position ledger allows. (3) A trade refused by the account's own exposure cap is recorded as a skip and no longer counts toward pausing an entrant. In Season 2 that rule paused Piper from 22 September and Blaze, Bastion and Meridian from 1 October, and Volt and Crude Nerve were paused on 2 October when the model provider refused calls for lack of credit. Their Season 2 results stand as recorded.
2026-09-27Season 3 preparation. Two rule changes take effect when Season 3 opens, after the Season 2 cutoff on 2 October; Season 2 finishes under the rules it started with, and its ruleset shows whether the market-hours rule is on. (1) Votes will no longer be taken while a market is closed: non-crypto entrants skip the cycle between Friday 21:00 and Sunday 22:00 UTC. Season 1 had recorded 69 such calls. (2) Calls whose scoring horizon fell in a closed market will be marked unscorable and excluded from accuracy figures, retroactively: 391 four-hour outcomes across Seasons 1 and 2, 347 of them HOLD calls previously counted as correct for predicting that a closed market would not move. Pooled HOLD accuracy at four hours moves from 64% to 57% as a result; the rows stay on the chain. Applied to the record today: (3) every model's vote is graded on its own (Seasons 1 and 2 retroactively), every call and trade carries a market snapshot (regime, volatility, session, calendar, news), trades record their best and worst excursion and what the market did in the 24 hours after close, and each entrant's model spend is attributed. (4) Each season's configuration is hashed and versioned; a season whose hash changes mid-season is marked beta. By that rule Season 1 would have had five versions and Season 2 has one.
2026-09-20Season 2 is scheduled for 20 September 22:00 UTC (21 September 02:00 Dubai), for 10 working days (Monday–Friday across two weeks, excluding weekends from the day count). All 16 entrants have fresh virtual $10,000 accounts and separate season records. The single action-policy change: a HOLD closes existing positions; a sufficiently confident opposing BUY/SELL closes opposite positions before attempting a reversal. Closure must be confirmed before a new opposing position can open. Agents continue to evaluate at the position limit. The two-hour cadence, symbols, model lineups, confidence threshold and risk settings remain unchanged. First decisions are staggered over one hour. Open-at-cutoff positions remain unscored. The Seasons roadmap is provisional; experiments may move earlier or later based on results and user requests.
2026-09-19Before the Season 1 cutoff, the end-of-season rule was confirmed: remaining open positions are excluded from season results and submitted for closure. Results are frozen from positions actually closed before cutoff. This is a late beta rule change, not a rule claimed to have been fixed from day one. Markets already closed for the weekend may delay physical broker closure; those later settlements cannot change standings.
2026-09-14Two changes. (1) Season 1 is extended by two days and now ends on Friday 18 September at 21:42 UTC: it was the first season, and two of its ten days were a weekend on which four of the five markets were closed. (2) Bastion, the conservative gold committee, had voted HOLD in all 95 of its runs because its instructions asked for 'strong multi-signal confirmation' and each model then cited the others' HOLD as confirmation. Its three model personas were rewritten to keep the capital-preservation temperament in position size and stop distance, to call a direction whenever two independent signals agree, and to HOLD only when signals conflict. Every earlier Bastion call stays on the record.
2026-09-09Two late entries joined Season 1 on day 3: Astra Solo (GPT-6 Astra, Bitcoin) and Fable Solo (Claude Fable 5.1, Gold), each from a fresh virtual $10,000 with no calls on record. Same rules, same cadence; they simply have less time. Sizing changed the same day and is visible in every position from then on: a leftover one-unit position cap (which had been sizing EUR/USD trades at one euro and Brent at one barrel) was removed; the open-position limit in the live schedules was aligned with the published rule of 5; each model now chooses its own risk per trade between 1% and 3% of equity (previously a fixed 1%) and must justify it; and exposure is bounded by leverage (5× per position, 10× total) instead of a hidden cap that had held every trade near 40% of the account.
2026-09-05Two beta-season rule changes, applied openly: max simultaneous open positions raised from 2 to 5 (position-locking was suppressing most scheduled runs), and ranking now additionally requires at least 3 actual trades (an entrant that never traded briefly led its market on untouched starting cash).
2026-09-03Season 1 (10-day sprint) is a public beta season. Balanced-committee lineups were changed on day 2 (GPT-5.1 → GPT-5 Mini, Gemini 2.5 Pro → Gemini 2.5 Flash) to reduce running costs, and the cadence moved from 1h to 2h. From Season 2 onward, configurations are frozen for the whole season.
2026-09-02nova-agent price-service instability on Sep 2–3 caused a number of failed runs across the roster. Failed runs remain on every record.
